My name’s Maddi, I write this blog and host the podcast. I’m mentally ill, and my journey has cleverly avoided keywords like ‘easy,’ ‘reasonable,’ and ‘consistent.’ I’m super duper passionate about mental health advocacy — and my blog / podcast. (And I’m really glad you’re here!)
I’m a huge music fan and spend a lot of time singing and listening to music, I even went to university for vocal music until I got sick and had to take a pause on school. These days, I’m back at school, studying to get a degree in Community Mental Health — I plan to work as in the community as a peer worker. I’d love to help build a more effective system to help our peers in need!
I’m a big animal lover and a super big supporter of pets for mental wellness (as long as it works for you). I have two cats and a dog and I know that my pets have helped me so much while they’ve been in my life and I’m so lucky so see those adorable, loving faces everyday!
Family is incredibly important to me, and I am very lucky to have an amazing group of people that I call my family. They have supported me through thick and thin and I would do literally anything for them in return. I also have a fabulous group of select friends that put up with my craziness — and maybe even love me a bit more for it.
Because I’m sick, I spend a lot of my time right now at home and struggling to keep up with life, but when I’m feeling good, I like to be outdoors and I’m working to get back to that. In the meantime, I’ve been enjoying discovering new recipes to cook or bake and learning about web design!
I’ll see you around! Stay strong.
